Online Coaching Lab Requirement
If you are an applicant of the hybrid or online program, please be aware that this program requires  combination of 24 to 28 live online coaching labs.  Coaching labs are typically scheduled on Mondays or Tuesdays (EST) - students of the Health & Wellness Coaching program are responsible for signing up for these labs before the course begins.

Special scheduling accommodations cannot be made.

Education History

Educational History & Official Transcripts
Please list your bachelor's degree, master's degree, and all degrees earned beyond a bachelor's degree. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Graduate Admissions Office for all degrees earned.

If your bachelor’s or master's degree was not completed at a college or university accredited by an accreditation body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, copies of the institution’s academic catalog may be required and course syllabi may be requested. If your bachelor’s or master's degree was completed at a college or university outside of the United States, a third-party course-by-course academic evaluation is required. See the Academic Catalog for more information for international students.

MUIH ALUMNI & STUDENTS
If you are an alumni or current student of the University, you are not required to resubmit any transcripts you have already supplied to the Graduate Admissions Office. If you have taken additional coursework since graduating, please supply those transcripts as part of your application. Otherwise, the Graduate Admissions Office will contact you should anything additional be required.
Prerequisites
Applicants' transcripts will be reviewed to confirm the successful completion of the following prerequisite requirements from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education*: 
  • Nutrition Science: 12 semester credit hours at the graduate level. Examples include courses in macronutrients, micronutrients, life cycle nutrition, and nutrition therapy. 
  • Biochemistry: 6 semester hours at the undergraduate or graduate level.  
  • Physiology or Anatomy & Physiology: 3 semester hours at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Clinical or Life Sciences: 12 semester hours at the undergraduate or graduate level. Examples include courses in biology, microbiology, epidemiology, biostatistics, botany, genetics, pathophysiology, and organic/inorganic chemistry. Three credits of research literacy may be applied toward the 12-credit requirement. Nutrition courses not used to meet the “Nutrition Science” requirement may be applied to the “Clinical or Life Sciences” requirements.
  • Behavioral Science: 3 semester hours at the undergraduate or graduate level. Examples include courses in psychology, motivational interviewing, and principles of health behavior/behavior change.
*This requirement is waived for applicants who hold one of the following credentials:
  • Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) by the Board of Certification of Nutrition Specialists (BCNS) 
  • Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN) by the Clinical Nutrition Certification Board (CNCB)
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)


Prerequisites
Applicants' transcripts will be reviewed to confirm the successful completion of the following prerequisite requirements from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.  
  • 3 semester credits of Organic/Biological Chemistry (graduate or bachelor’s level acceptable)
  • 3 semester credits of Physiology and/or Pathophysiology (graduate or bachelor’s level acceptable)
NBHWC
Individuals who are an NBHWC National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach are eligible for 10.5 credits of advanced standing and will only need to complete 19.5 credits of coursework at MUIH. Such students are exempt from taking the following courses at MUIH: COA605 (1.5 cr), COA610 (3 cr), COA616 (3 cr), COA620 (3 cr), and COAPSA (0 cr). To receive advanced standing, students must submit official documentation of their NBHWC before starting their first class at MUIH.
NBHWC & ICF
Individuals who are an NBHWC National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach are eligible for 10.5 credits of advanced standing and will only need to complete 19.5 credits of coursework at MUIH. Such students are exempt from taking the following courses at MUIH: COA605 (1.5 cr), COA610 (3 cr), COA616 (3 cr), COA620 (3 cr), and COAPSA (0 cr). To receive advanced standing, students must submit official documentation of their NBHWC before starting their first class at MUIH.

Individuals who are an ICF Associate (ACC), Professional (PCC), or Master (MCC) Certified Coach are eligible for 6 credits of advanced standing and will only need to complete 24 credits of coursework at MUIH. Such students are exempt from taking the following courses at MUIH: COA610 (3 cr), COA620 (3 cr), and COAPSA (0 cr). To receive advanced standing, students must submit official documentation of their ICF program before starting their first class at MUIH.
Advanced Standing for C-IAYT and ERYT 500 Certification 
Individuals who hold the C-IAYT certification designation are eligible for up to 6 credits of advanced standing in MUIH’s M.S. Yoga Therapy program, if they pass the course equivalency exams. To receive advanced standing, students must indicate this at the time of their application for admission and must submit official documentation of their credential(s) before starting their first class at MUIH.  

Such students are exempt from taking the following courses at MUIH pending successful completion of an equivalency exam administered by MUIH prior to the start of the student’s first course in the program: YOGA611 Theoretical Foundations for Yoga Therapy (2 cr), YOGA615 Breath and Health (1 cr), and ISCI613 Mental Health and Mind Body Science (3 cr). 
ICF
Individuals who are an ICF Associate (ACC), Professional (PCC), or Master (MCC) Certified Coach are eligible for 6 credits of advanced standing and will only need to complete 24 credits of coursework at MUIH. Such students are exempt from taking the following courses at MUIH: COA610 (3 cr), COA620 (3 cr), and COAPSA (0 cr). To receive advanced standing, students must submit official documentation of their ICF program before starting their first class at MUIH.
Integrative Nurse Coach Academy Program 
Graduates of the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy Program are eligible for:
three (3) graduate elective credits of advanced standing in the Master of Arts Integrative Health Studies program
Integrative Nurse Coach Academy Program 
Graduates of the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy Program are eligible for:
three (3) graduate elective credits of advanced standing in the Master of Science Health Promotion program

ATTENTION:
All graduate programs require applicants to meet that English proficiency standard. Applicants who have earned a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university in the United States, Canada (excluding province of Quebec), United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand are considered to have met that standard.  Additionally, applicants who have earned degrees with English as the primary language of instruction may also satisfy the English language requirement - this must be confirmed by the credit evaluation services used by the applicant when having their degree(s) evaluated.
ATTENTION:
All graduate programs require applicants to meet that English proficiency standard. If English is not the primary language of study, applicants are required to take an English proficiency examination and meet minimum scores set by MUIH in order to be considered for admissions.  Either the TOEFL or IELTS exam can be used to meet this requirement.
